Day 19 of our adoption journey

Do you remember the first time you child/children said “Mama” or “Dada”? Do you remember the emotions of great joy that swelled up in your heart and you took the child into your arms and hugged them because of their accomplishment?  I hope you do and I hope you recall it quite often and praise them still when they do things right.  We tend to only tell our children when they are doing wrong but we also need to praise them when they are doing things good or great.   Well today we got to hear our young man “H” say “Mama” and “Dad” now you may not think that was anything great but you must remember this young man is deaf so when we heard him speak our names and saw the effort he had to put into it I am telling you our hearts just swelled with great joy and yes we were happy with tears.

We are so in love with “H” and feel like he is already a part of our family.  The assistant director at the facility has been a great help to us.  She understands the adjustment this young man will be in for as he begins his life in the U.S.  So each day she works with us and him teaching us how to help “H” make the transition from his sign language to the ASL.  Basically he is starting back at square one where he is having to learn a completely different set of letters and signs.   But he is making progress and he is learning to communicate with us more each day.

But through all of this God is working in our lives, opening doors for us that we actually did not even know how to open or where to get started.  But the God I serve does and he puts people in our lives that are there to help us even when we don’t realize it ourselves.  I keep going back to the scripture in my mind that I used a couple of days ago “Call unto me and I will answer thee and shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not” (Jer 33:3 KJV).  You know when we trust God completely and when we can lay all of our cares and all of our trust upon him he will do great and mighty things for us that will amaze us just as he did for the children of Israel when he parted the Red Sea right before their eyes.

We are truly thankful this is the kind of God we serve and we pray you do as well.  Because just like “H” God sought us out and kept working with and on us until the day we each accepted him to be our God and Jesus His Son as my Savior.  We are so thankful God is in control of our lives and God is already in tomorrow taking care of things for us.  We praise his name for that.

Thank you for your blog and allowing random people like me read it. I think God is trusting H. into good hands. He looks very happy with your family. You're posts are faith bolstering. You have at least one devoted reader. I check everyday to see if there is anything new written.
